A helical screw pile, also known as a helical pier, helical anchor, or screw pile, is a deep foundation system used to support structures and transfer loads to the earth.

It consists of a helical-shaped steel plate or helix welded to a central steel shaft, which is then twisted into the ground using a hydraulic or electric torque motor. The helix acts as a bearing plate, providing resistance against vertical and horizontal loads by creating a larger area of contact with the surrounding soil.
